SimplyCount

SimplyCount for IT & Security Teams

You're the one who signs off on new software — not the one counting symbols. SimplyCount is built to make that review short: it runs on the estimator's machine (encrypted local database, plan sets never uploaded; one license check at app launch over HTTPS, fully offline no-check build available at negotiated pricing), and every security claim checks against a Trust & Security page that lists only what's actually implemented.

For IT & security teams, SimplyCount turns a multi-hour manual takeoff into minutes without taking the number out of your hands. It finds every symbol instance across the plan set, you review and sign off on the count, and it exports cleanly to Excel, CSV or PDF for the estimating stack you already run. Your plans stay in an encrypted local database on your own machine — an easy yes for IT and procurement.

Why it's hard by hand

Cloud-only takeoff tools force plan sets onto vendor servers your security policy may not allow.

Vendor security pages routinely claim controls that can't be verified.

The estimating team wants the tool this week; you own the risk sign-off.

How SimplyCount handles it

What you get

  • Plans are processed locally in an encrypted local database, inside your firewall — plan sets are never uploaded. The license is checked once, at app launch, over HTTPS — after launch, counting runs fully offline; a fully offline build with no license check is available for air-gapped environments at negotiated pricing.
  • Shipped desktop builds send no telemetry, and the Privacy Policy states exactly what the website itself collects (first-party, cookie-free).
  • Our web properties are served over TLS with HSTS enforced; admin credentials live in a managed secret store, not in code.
  • We hold no SOC 2 / ISO 27001 certification yet and claim none — implemented vs planned controls are listed plainly on the Trust & Security page.
  • Estimators keep the number: each symbol's detections are human-reviewed, and unverified counts render as floors (≥).

Questions

Common questions

Can SimplyCount count our symbols automatically?
Yes. Point at the symbol from your own legend and SimplyCount finds and marks every instance across the whole plan set, then lets you review and sign off on the total before it lands in a bid.
Can we keep everything inside our network?
Your plan sets, yes: detection runs locally, results sit in an encrypted local database, and there is no upload step. SimplyCount checks its licence once, when the app launches — that check needs an internet connection and carries licence state only, never your drawings; after launch, counting runs fully offline. For environments that cannot allow any outbound connection, a fully offline build with no licence check is available at negotiated pricing — see the system requirements page.
How fast is it, really?
SimplyCount's benchmark is 60 unique symbols across 168 pages in about an hour — roughly 168× faster than counting by hand. Most sheets go from open plans to a draft count in minutes.
Can it learn our custom or non-standard symbols?
Yes. SimplyCount is self-learning: teach it a symbol once from your own legend and it counts that symbol on every future job, getting more accurate the more you use it.
