Guide · the sample sheet

What to send as a sample sheet, and why it gets you a faster, truer approval

One request in thirty-five arrives with a sample attached. The ones that do are the easiest to approve well, because the approval can come with a count on your own symbols instead of a promise.

What a good sample is

Two or three real sheets from a set you have bid or are bidding, as one PDF, with the drawing's legend on one of them or on the sheet itself. The request form takes one PDF up to the size it states; you do not need the whole set. Pick the sheet type you count most, a power plan for an electrical estimator, a reflected ceiling plan for fire protection or HVAC, because that is the symbol the pilot count will teach.

What to leave out

A full binder (the first sheets are enough), a scan with no legend anywhere (the engine can count a scanned page, but a reviewer cannot tell a receptacle from a junction box without the key), and anything you are not allowed to share. The legend sheet matters more than resolution: a clean legend and one representative plan sheet beat ten sheets with no key.

What happens to it

The file is handled under the agreement's file terms, which you read and accept with your answers. The team reviews every request in order, nearest bid deadlines first. When a sample is attached, the team can run a first count on it and send the result back, so the approval email carries a number from your own drawing, marked the way the app marks it: a floor as a floor, a verified count as verified.

Why it speeds things up

Without a sample, the approval is a judgement about a company and a role. With one, it is a judgement about whether the product counts your symbols, which is the question you actually have. It also tells us your trade and your sheet style before the first call, so the install and first-count help is specific instead of general. We do not promise a turnaround time; the queue is worked by one team, in order.

If you cannot share a sheet

Request access without one. The form still asks your role, trade, bid deadline and plan sets per month, and those are enough to be approved; the pilot count then happens on your own machine after install, on sheets that never leave it.

Questions

Common questions

Can I add the sample after I submit?
Yes. The sample upload is available once you have confirmed your email and signed in; the request itself does not wait for it.
Does the sample have to be a vector PDF?
No. Scanned pages are supported. A visible legend matters more than whether the page is vector or raster.
